5-year-old Daniel*, was trapped in detention since the end of September 2020. We’re relieved to share that today, Daniel has been reunited with his family.

We are relieved beyond words to tell you that 5-year-old Daniel* has been reunited with his family today. He spent 77 days in government custody.

Your voice mattered. Together we showed the government that we are watching. We hope Daniel and his mother walk away a little less traumatized thanks to our intervention.

As we celebrate this reunion, we want to recognize everyone who helped bring this family back together. Especially our ESH case manager, Micaela, who tirelessly worked with Daniel’s mother to get Daniel out of detention, and thank you to our partners  at Miles4Migrants, who donated 45,000 miles (equivalent to $759) to fly Daniel home.

Thank you for showing up again and again.

Daniel was trapped in detention.

Sketch by Marc Nelson

5-year-old Daniel* was trapped in detention since the end of September 2020. He was quarantined for 20 days with nothing but a box of crayons.

His family was desperate to get him out. His aunt was eager to take him home. We did everything we could to support them, but the government continued to stall.

Every day in detention robbed him of a day of healthy development.

Your support helps fight for migrant children and families, like Daniel’s.
